Friends of Gallery Day Out

We will start our trip at Miaflora Café and Garden Centre in Winchester for lunch then make our way to the Aigantighe Art Gallery in Timaru to get a sneak peek look at works in their permanent collection.
The Aigantighe holds a significant permanent collection of New Zealand, Pacific, Asian and European art works from the sixteenth century to the present day and has works by acclaimed artist’s including Olivia Spencer-Bower, Toss Woollaston, Colin McCahon, Charles Frederick Goldie and Petrus van der Velden, just to name a few. The trip will be guided by the Aigantighe’s Collection Curator, Petrena Fishburn who will speak about the significant works in her care and the stories behind some of the portraits in the collection. Petrena will also give us a rare glimpse into the storeroom of the Aigantighe and the new exhibitions on display. Weather permitting, we will also take a stroll in the sculpture garden before heading home.
Vans will leave the Gallery at 11:00am and return at 4:30pm. Seating is limited so please contact the Gallery as soon as possible to reserve your place. The cost for the trip is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. Bookings and payment can be made through the Gallery reception or via email on firstname.lastname@example.org
