ABOUT THIS EXHIBITION
DATES & TIMES
6 August - 1 September
Open Daily: 10am - 4pm
Throughout her active life as a nurse, farmer’s wife, antique dealer, mother and grandmother, local artist Barbara Jaine has quietly devoted herself to creative pursuits which have given her profound joy. This exhibition is the result of over four decades of art-making and celebrates the various subjects and mediums Jaine has experimented with. She has chosen to revisit the various chapters of subject matter with a renewed interest, stating: “I have tried many techniques and media, enjoying some more than others.
Watercolour will always be my special friend, especially for painting the products of my garden, sea and landscapes”.
Her past achievements include receiving awards in the South Canterbury Art Society and Ashburton Society of Arts (ASA) exhibitions for artworks in a variety of disciplines including mixed media, watercolour and papier-mâché. She has taught and guided many beginner artists and is the current patron of the ASA.
Celebrat8ion highlights a prolific year in Jaines’ career and marks a personal milestone in her life. She will be
presenting an informal talk at the Gallery on Wednesday 29 August at 5:30pm. Be prepared to be inspired by her tales
and adventures in art and life.
