Enjoy the benefits of discovering and appreciating all the Ashburton Art Gallery has to offer, and you will be contributing to the cultural life of our town and district.

The Ashburton Art Gallery is a vibrant and innovative regional public art gallery serving the urban population of Ashburton and the wider Ashburton district. The Gallery was officially opened on the 16th of September 1995 and occupies the top floor of the refurbished former Ashburton County Council building, which is centrally sited behind the town clock in Baring Square East gardens.

In the visual arts field the Ashburton Art Gallery hosts exhibitions by local, national and international artists, as well as arranging a stimulating annual programme of touring exhibitions. Wherever possible the Gallery supplements its visual arts programme by presenting education and arts associated events.

The Ashburton Art Gallery is currently involved in a redevelopment project which will see the Gallery double in size over the coming years allowing for much needed storage and working space as well as the addition of retail and café space. Join as a friend and support the Gallery in this exciting development which will be of great benefit to the Ashburton district community.

Admission to the Gallery is free.

Hours:Tuesday-Friday10am-4pm
Wednesdays10am-7pm
Weekends1pm-4pm
Mondays and public holidays closed.

After hours the Gallery is available for hire for private functions.
