Strange Attractor is an exciting body of work by Dunedin based painter James Robinson. This exhibition brings together a selection of paintings and works on paper along with a visual diary containing additional drawings which inform the completed works. Strange Attractor, explores principle of quantum physics and the subconscious and demonstrates Robinson’s authentic and uninhibited approach.
Robinson completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Otago School of Fine Arts in 2000. He was the Paramount Winner of the Wallace Art Awards in 2007 and has held prestigious residencies at the Sarjeant (Whanganui), the McCahon Trust (Auckland), the William Hodges (Southland), and others in New York, Berlin and Melbourne. James Robinson’s work is held in numerous public, private and corporate collections throughout New Zealand and Australia.
This exhibition will open on Sunday 29 January at 2pm during the opening Robinson will present a talk and following this there will be a musical performance by sound artist Seth Rees inspired by the exhibition. All are welcome to attend.
