DATES & TIMES

1 August- 11 September

Open Daily: 10am - 4pm

Six Artists respond to the poetry of Joanna Margaret Paul is an exhibition of short moving image works each inspired by a selection of Paul’s poetry. This exhibition celebrates the significance of Paul’s work which offer a catalyst for a collection of new film works by six contemporary New Zealand artists. These artists include Nova Paul, Rachel Shearer, Sonya Lacey, Miranda Parkes, Shannon Te Ao and the collective Popular Productions.

Paul was prolific film-maker, poet, photographer and painter, with poetry which focused on her observations of the domestic and the modest grace of her home surroundings. The short films presented in this exhibition offer an ambitious range of new moving
imagery shot at home, in industrial space, nature and using a microscope within salt letter form.

Six Artists respond to the work of Joanna Margaret Paul was curated by Solomon Nagler and Mark Williams. Commissioned by CIRCUIT Artist Film and Video Aotearoa New Zealand with the support of Creative New Zealand.
