DATES & TIMES

7 March - 31 May 2020

Open Daily: 10am - 4pm

After winning the Zonta Ashburton Female Art Award in 2019, Melissa Macleod returns to the Ashburton Art Gallery with her solo show, The Trappings of Ghosts.

Melissa Macleod (b.1973) lives in Christchurch, New Zealand, is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily across sculpture, photography and performance. She has exhibited in numerous New Zealand galleries and artist run spaces, and Japan, while on a Creative New Zealand Emergent Artist Grant. Her recent work examines issues surrounding the Eastern Christchurch community where she lives, addressing the marginalization of this area, and responding to environmental impacts.

The Trappings of Ghosts is an immersive installation that responds to the Ashburton environment, particularly the Wakanui seaside.
