Live performance by Tape Art NZ
May 23, 2015
Erica Duthie and Struan Ashby (Tape Art NZ) were a big part of the Gallery’s opening celebration on the 23rd of May by greeting guests with their performance work called Furrowed Brow on the Southern exterior wall of the building. This temporary work was made entirely with rolls of blue masking tape and a bit of billboard vinyl. The work depicted rural Ashburton with a farming scene of yesteryear with a twist. The traction engine in the scene was pulling a giant gramophone trumpet and the sound waves formed topographical lines. Guests were invited to have their profile drawn with tape and become part of the performance. Can you spot the curator, Shirin Khosraviani who is drawn in tape?
